Unfortunately, despite the large announcements, we have not yet seen its implementation. Effect? The average Polish household lost as much as 7,200 PLN per year, and experts warn: if the government does not make fast decisions, Poles can only number on further taxation increases and expensiveness.
Promises and reality – why did PLN 60 1000 of free money not enter into force?
In the election run of 2023 The majority of political parties promised a crucial increase in the tax-free amount – from the present PLN 30 1000 to PLN 60 thousand. According to estimates, this would make The minimum wage earners will not pay a PIT gold. In addition, this was expected to bring relief for millions of Poles whose income amounts to PLN 4-6 1000 gross per month.
After the election, however, the subject gradually disappeared from public debate. The rulers explain the failure to fulfill this promise lack of resources in the state budget. The Ministry of Finance argues that raising the amount free to PLN 60 1000 would mean decrease in budget revenues by around PLN 40 billion per yearwhich could undermine public finances.
Who lost the change? Experts calculate circumstantial amounts
If the government introduced the promised free amount at the level PLN 60 thousand, any employed Pole could number on saving up to PLN 7200 per year. For families where both spouses work, this would even mean 14 400 PLN more in home budget.
But reality is different. As of January 2025, taxpayers proceed to settle according to old rules, and inflation makes life costs constantly rise. Food, energy and services prices record, and alternatively of taxation relief, Poles gotta face rising wellness contributions and fresh charges, specified as a taxation on combustion cars.
More taxes, little relief – what is to come in 2025?
Instead of expanding the tax-free amount, in 2025 Poles can anticipate subsequent fiscal burdens. The government is unofficially considering:
- increase health contributions for entrepreneurs,
- new environmental taxes (e.g. taxation on combustion cars),
- Increase in excise work on alcohol and cigarettes.
Moreover, even if the tax-free amount will be raised, its real value may be much lower due to the galloping inflation and rising cost of living.
Will Poles be deceived again?
The failure to implement the key electoral promise raises immense controversy. Many Poles feel Disappointed, especially since the government does not present a circumstantial timetable for changes. Experts are alerting: if the increase in the tax-free amount is not introduced soon, Poles will actually pay more alternatively of less.
Will the government decide on real taxation relief in 2025, or can citizens anticipate only further burdens? We will know the answer in the coming months.
