Day 803.
Today there have been many updates from the Kurakhove direction
Here, Ukrainian forces decided to retreat from Nowomaikalivka after months of fierce opposition due to intense Russian force on the settlement
The conflict for this settlement has continued since the end of autumn and it has become the site of 1 of the largest enemy equipment cemeteries in this war.
Nowomichailiwka, a tiny village with only 1,500 residents before the conflict, became 1 of the highest priorities of the Russians throughout the front line as it became a direct step on the road to Kostiantiniwka, a key logistics hub located on the P0532 road, from which Wuhledar is logistically supplied
In turn, Wuhledar, 1 of the Ukrainian strongholds inactive resisting Russian attacks, is at the intersection of the north-south and east-west front lines, and is besides closest to Mariupola and its sphere of influence, any 80 kilometres away, and so just at the border of the scope of HIMARS systems.
So for Russians to decision the front line even by a fewer kilometres behind Wuhledar is simply a large priority
Newmichailevka is defended, among another things, by the 79th Infantry and Assault Brigade, 1 of the best prepared and equipped elite units of the Ukrainian army.
According to reports, their very frequent usage of western equipment specified as Javelin missiles helped to destruct many tanks and infantry transporters in the area.
In fresh statements, their commander, Colonel Evgeny Szamatyuk, described in item how his units faced Russian forces composed of at least 8 regiments and 2 brigades in the area of Nowomichailiwka.
It's about 30,000 soldiers on this tiny long of front lines, which means the advantage of the attackers from 7 to one.
Recently, the 79th Hostile Squadron reported that Russia lost 314 pieces of equipment in six months of fighting around Nowomichailiwka and published a detailed movie documenting this claim
The striking footage combines images of attacks and geolocated remains from the last six months
Recording and additional material published allows us to analyse the attack on the village during this period
First, Ukrainian defenders faced an attack from many directions, from the front and from the northern and confederate flank.
However, in the first weeks the attack was mostly halted, especially in the northern and frontal directions, due to the fact that many attacks had to exceed many densely mined areas and open fields.
The Ukrainians countered these attacks with excellent reconnaissance capabilities, which allowed for the preparation of the high-priority overwhelming fire of the PKP, artillery and drones.
Secondly, in the face of the strong opposition of the Ukrainians, Russian forces have found a way to decision forward utilizing massive bombings and disproportionate losses, both in failed mechanized attacks and in infantry waves.
According to various reports, due to the highly advanced failure rate, The Russians had to deploy additional operational reserves
Eventually, however, the successive waves made gradual progress, which allowed a fewer weeks later to cross and enter the outskirts of the village.
However, massive artillery bombings and FAB bombs completely destroyed buildings and fortifications inside the settlement, making the city's defence untenable, given the inability to keep defensive positions in the ruins and craters themselves after the missiles.
For this reason, Ukrainian defenders had no choice but to gradually retreat from the settlement.
Incidentally, any analyst reports indicated that the FAB mass bombings not only paved the way, undermining Ukrainian fortifications, but besides helped clear densely mined areas on the outskirts of the village.
After confirmation of withdrawal from Nowomichailiwka, the situation of Ukrainians remains complicated as Russians proceed to exert strong force on the road to Kostiantynivka
This road is now more accessible to the Russians, given the different forest lines and residential areas connecting these towns, which let infantry operations at a faster rate than through open field areas
In addition to the direct axis to Kostiantiniwa, Russian forces grow south to approach the road and possibly establish fire control over it.
Such developments pose a serious challenge for Ukrainian defenders who will be forced to disperse their personnel and material resources in a larger area.
However, the 79th Assault Brigade continued its attacks on Russian forces in the area of Nowomichailiwka.
