Tom Vander Woude, father of 7 children, of Prince William, Virginia, whose beatification process is just beginning, will be posthumously honored this year's St. Gianna Beretty Molli Award for Heroy Pro-Life. On 28 September 2008, erstwhile his boy Joseph with Down syndrome, fell into a toxic sewage tank, Tom jumped in behind him, pushing him to the surface, although poisonous fumes filled his own lungs.
