In total, around 600 Poles died in the UPA attack on 16–18 July. The liquidation of the Huta Stepańska–Wyrka self-defense centre was supervised by Ivan Lytrzynczuk “Dubowyj”. The order to destruct Huta was given “Korban” by him, while the attack on Wyrka was entrusted to “Borysten”. The full operation was supported by the sotnia “Kozhana” and part of the sotnia “Jarema”.
The villages were completely burned and brick buildings were blown up. On July 19, before the ruins of the church in Huta, an Orthodox thanksgiving service was celebrated “for breaking up the centre”.
