Rzepecki thinks the constitution has been violated

The program “7th Day of the Week” on the ZET radio was attended by guests of various political groups: Bartosz Arłukowicz (KO), Anna Zalewski (PiS), Karolina Ziło-Pużuk (Lewica), Adam Jarubas (PSL) and Łukasz Rzepecki from the Chancellery of the president of Poland. The discussion dealt, among others, with the case of the PiS associate Marcin Romanowski, who fled abroad, obtaining political asylum in Hungary. The Roman prosecution accuses 11 crimes, including participation in an organized crime group and manipulation of competitions for funds from the Justice Fund.

It was in the context of Romanowski Rzepecki that he expressed doubts about punishing the policy:

We live in a state of lawlessness He said. – The Prime Minister and the Minister of Justice violated the constitution with their illegal activities.

The presidential advisor besides said:

We have immense doubts that the process that will be reached will be impartial, due to the fact that as we see, the government has done everything to compromise the services of the Polish state.

Legal chaos?

In the following part of the program, the president's advisor, referring to the question of the integrity of the possible trial by Marcin Romanowski, pointed to the "legal chaos" initiated by Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Minister Adam Bodnar. As an example, he mentioned the exchange of the national prosecutor Dariusz Barski, which he felt might affect the course of court proceedings. He besides stated that Poland functions as a "lawless state", accusing the Prime Minister and the Minister of Justice of violating the Constitution through illegal actions.

Those words were criticized by Karolina Herb-Puzhuk of the Left. As she noted:

If president Lukas Rzepecki tells citizens that they cannot trust the justice system, he says 1 of the worse things a citizen can hear. An highly unpatriotic attitude.

In turn, Adam Jarubas of PSL assessed that supporting people from his own organization was 1 thing, but a separate issue is that Romanowski had been preparing to flee the country for many months.

Consequences of speech

The programme leader at Radio Zet pointed out the possible influence of Rzepecki's statements on the perception of the fairness of courts in Poland. He pointed out that this could give emergence to doubts about the legality of the prosecution's actions.

Łukasz Rzepecki replied that the problem was illegal in his opinion to appoint a current national prosecutor, as the cancellation of erstwhile prosecutor Dariusz Barski did not have formal consent, which in his opinion undermines the legality of the actions of the full prosecutor. He alleged that this was the situation that Prime Minister Donald Tusk and lawyer General Adam Bodnar led to.
