Since Saturday, the friends from the Volunteer Fire Service in Pszczółki in the territory of Gdańsk have been strengthening the water-soaked and leak-threatening flood banks of the Bielawa River. another OS units from the region besides started to help, and yesterday they were joined by soldiers from the 7th Pomeranian Territorial Defence Brigade.
Yesterday, the manager of the Regional Water Management Board in Gdańsk, due to the dynamic hydrological and meteorological situation, introduced an absolute temporary ban on the movement of flood shafts in areas administered by the Zlewnia Management Boards: Elbląg, Gdańsk and Tczew. It does not, of course, concern authorised services and persons active in work related to the improvement of the safety of floodbanks. Weekend rainfall caused flooding in many places and threatened heavy soaked floodgates. On Saturday afternoon, the friends of the OSP in Pszczółki received a study of harm to the river under the region road. On the spot, it turned out that the flood shaft of the Bielawa River was leaking.
– On Saturday, the friends from the units of the Gdańsk region OS and the residents of the municipality of Pszczółki utilized 15 1000 sandbags to strengthen the shafts. Yesterday, more than 70 of our soldiers besides went to help. Today, we proceed to strengthen the shafts and are ready, in case of interruption, to evacuate residents from threatened areas," reports Piotr Langenfeld, press officer of the 7th Pomeranian Territorial Defence Brigade.
The right flood dam of the Bielawa River close the municipalities of Suchy Dąb and Pszczółki is 8.24 km long.
