One of the most crucial but little frequently discussed phenomena of the Russian-Ukrainian War is the systematic failure by the Russian Federation of top-level leadership. This is why Syed Rizwan Haider Bukhari points out in his article Disappearing Command: Assassinations, Purges, and the Erosion of Russian Military Leadership in the Ukraine War, published in the diary of Social Sciences Review (2025). This is referred to as "command disintegration" and indicates that this phenomenon includes 3 parallel processes: the elimination of generals in the field of combat, killing and mysterious deaths in the interior of Russia and political cleansing within military structures. According to the author, this three-step force not only weakens the combat capabilities, but besides destroys the confidence, morale and organization cohesion of the Russian armed forces.
