Russian troops occupied 259 square kilometres of Ukraine in September – 44% little than in August and the least since May of that year – reported the independent DeepState analytical portal on 1 October. According to his estimates, Russia presently controls 19.04 percent of Ukraine's surface area.
The most problematic section of the front remains the direction of Nowopawliwski, where Russian troops are making clear progress. Analysts pointed out that the situation in the Kupin region was stabilised only thanks to the fast decisions of Ukrainian command. At the same time, it was stressed that the conflict for the city was inactive ongoing.
On the Pokrowski direction, as experts have pointed out, Ukraine's defence is peculiarly effective, although Russian attacks are focusing right there.
– Each tenth square metre of occupied territory falls on this section, and a 3rd of all storms are targeted at Pokrowsk and its surroundings – the study states.
