Brig. Gen. Dariusz Lewandowski was appointed as commander of the 18th Mechanized Division and Colonel Marcin Dusza will be headed by 21th Podhale firearm Brigade. Decisions on these nominations were signed present by Deputy Prime Minister, National Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

From Deputy Commander

Brig-Gen Dariusz Lewandowski is the current deputy commander Iron Division. He is simply a postgraduate of the Higher Officers School of Armoured Forces in Poznań (1990) and a course of battalion commanders (Higher Officers' Training, 1997). In addition, he graduated from the Academy of National Defence (2001), postgraduate Operational and strategy Studies AON (2007) and Postgraduate Defence Policy Studies AON (2015). He began his military career in the 2nd Berlin Mechanized Regiment in Giżyck, where he held successively the positions of platoon commander, then company commander.

From 1994 to 1999, he served in the 4th Suwałki Armored Cavalry Brigade in which he commanded a tank battalion. After graduating from the Academy of National Defence (now the Academy of War Art) and receiving the title of a certified officer in 2001, he was assigned to the 1st Warsaw Mechanized Division as Deputy Commander of the 1st Legionary Battalion of Command.

From 2002 to 2014, he held a number of staff positions in the General Staff of the Polish Army, and then the Operations Command of the Types of Armed Forces, to the position of Head of the Board of Planning – J5 inclusive. During this period he was liable for planning the usage of Polish military quotas in missions and operations outside the country. He participated in operational planning in the armed forces and the preparation of part of operational-tactical military maneuvers, including all editions of the “Anaconda” exercise.

From 2017 to 2019, he was commander of the 34th Armored Cavalry Brigade in Żagań. In 2019, as a Brigadier General, he took over as commander of the 21st Podhalan firearm Brigade. As of October 24, 2022, he served as deputy commander of the 18th Mechanized Division.

Missionary Experience

Colonel Marcin Souls began his military service in 1996. He graduated from the Tadeusz Kościuszko Higher School of Officers in Wrocław (2000), besides completed postgraduate studies at the University of Computer discipline and Management in Rzeszów at the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences (2013). As a lieutenant, he's already active with the subhalans. Since 2000, he served in the 5th Battalion of the Podhale Rifles, then in the 5th Battalion Mechanized in the positions of the platoon commander, later an operational officer and company commander. After the 5th Mechanized Battalion was formed in Rzeszów in 2010, he was appointed as Company Commander – Crew Commander in the 1st Podhale firearm Battalion in Rzeszów. From April 2012 he served in the Operations Section of Command 21 Subhalan firearm Brigades. In 2013, already as a major, he assumed the position of head of the exploratory section in the brigade. In 2016, he completed a qualifying course of battalion commanders at the National Defence Academy. With 21 BSP said goodbye in 2022, he was then, among others, Deputy Commander and Acting Commander of the 19th Lublin Mechanized Brigade. He participated in missions in Kosovo and Afghanistan 3 times.
