Stanislaw Smreczyńska died

Mrs Stanisław Smreczyńska (née Faltus) died. She was 99 years old. This Crosovian female lived during the war in Brzeszcze (beside Oświęcim).

During the war, she and her sister Sophia provided prisoners with a German concentration camp Auschwitz medicines, food and clothing, mediated the transfer of flups between prisoners and their families. Her memories were recorded and published under the title “Unordinary Enlightenment – how Auschwitz prisoners were rescued”.

Its action was besides noted by the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in the work of “People of Good Will”. Smreczyńska promoted cognition of the camp opposition and aid to prisoners from the Polish population (especially young people)

The ceremony liturgy will take place on Saturday 1 June at 12.00 at the Parish Church in Brzeszcze
