The winter group of Navy divers has ended. For 2 weeks respective twelve miners and underwater engineering specialists participated in intensive training conducted in the waters of Lake Czos and at the Military Training and Condition Centre in Mrągowo.
Specialists from the 8th Coast Defence Fleet and 3rd Ship Fleet took part in the winter polygon group. Miner divers and engineering divers from various Naval units practice together all year during training and conditioning group organized on the basis of WOSzK infrastructure in Mragowo. Participants improved diving techniques, operating and cooperation procedures, as well as handling skills, and the usage of specialized diving equipment and hydraulic tools utilized in underwater work. The winter period offers the chance to conduct exercises in peculiarly demanding conditions - at very low water temperature and ice cover cuffing the lake.
"During the group we have improved overhead diving skills, including ice diving. It's 1 of the most demanding forms of diving. Our Group's experience shows that we must be ready to act under all conditions. During the training many hours were devoted to the search and recognition of sunken objects utilizing sonars and underwater mine detectors. After the location, objects were prepared for extraction by alleged trapping, carried out under conditions of limited visibility and in unfavourable weather. These skills are crucial in real-time operations to remove explosives and another hazardous facilities, which each year the Miner Diver Group 8 Defence Fleets There are dozens of shores.
"Underwater, we practice the procedures of searching for objects, uncovering the cut and authoritarians. In specified conditions, intellectual immunity is of large importance. The awareness of a 40-centimeter layer of ice above the head, which cannot be forged from the bottom, makes the mastery and common trust should be at the highest level." – summarized the group commander.
In addition to underwater classes, much attention has besides been paid to developmental training, strengthening fitness and physical fitness – essential in this demanding military specialty.
In the Navy, there are 2 Miner Diver Groups from the 12th and 13th Tray Squadrons (both divisions are part of the 8th Coast Defence Fleet). Specialists in underwater work - engineering divers, besides have in their structures the MW shore units, that is, 8th Battalion of Bombers from Dziwnow (8FOW) and 43rd Battalion of Bombers from Rozewi (3FO).
Navy divers execute dozens of combat actions within a year. They are called to dangerous underwater finds throughout the country. They operate in both marine and inland waters. Maintaining their ability and readiness to act requires continuous improvement of skills and hours of training.
