W Sunday of Mercy on the streets of Zielona Góra will pass for the second time the Way of Light, which will be presided over by Bishop Tadeusz Lityński. It is an initiative of the Catholic Youth Association of the Diocese of Zielona Góra-Gorzowska. This year, the relics of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Stanislaus Kostka will accompany the journey.
The Catholic Youth Association last year organized the Road of Light for the first time. – At the time it was a Polish-wide initiative of KSM, which encouraged individual dioceses to organise specified services – explains Fr Marcin Bobowicz, diocesan assistant of KSM. “We besides took the initiative of going from the Church of the Elevation of the Cross to the concateder, which was a station church in the Jubilee Year held at the time”, he adds.
Last year the turnout went well, and many people joined the organization, among others, the Scouts. – At the time, we were walking with the relics of St. Carlo Acutis, whose canonization we experienced at the time and Blessed Karolina Kózkinina our patron. Of course, they besides referred to these 2 young patrons," explains Fr Bobowicz. – This year the reflections will concern St. Francis of Assisi, whose year in the church we celebrate and St. Stanislaus Kostka, whose year we celebrate in KSM. Next to these patrons there will be the relics of Saint Carlo Acutis – he adds.
The Way of Light is simply a unique service held during the Easter period. “The message of this way is above all the Resurrection of joy flowing out of it,” explains Fr Bobowicz. "This year we besides want to hear our prayer for peace. Besides, it is an chance to bear witness to our religion outside," he adds.
The service will begin with Mass at 6 p.m. under the leadership of Bishop Tadeusz Lityński. Around 7:00 p.m., young people will go to the concateder through the streets of Grunwaldzka, al. Słowacki, Strzelecka, Sikorski, Mariacka and Mickiewicza.
