The U.S. president stressed that Spain did not rise defence spending to 5% of GDP and pointed out that the authorities of this country did not agree to usage their military bases. In his opinion, this shows the deficiency of a friendly attitude of Madrid towards the United States.
On Monday, Spain's defence minister Margarita Robles reported that the military bases in the south of the country, which have been utilized by US forces for decades, have not supported US offensive actions against Iran.
