The death balance of the Sunday collision of high-speed trains in the state of Córdoba, Spain, increased to 39, reported the Spanish Ministry of the Interior.
The disaster occurred in Adamuz, about 200 km north of Malaga. The collision occurred on a simple section of the route, renovated in May 2025 at a cost of EUR 700 million. The Iryo train, which from Malaga to Madrid drove 317 people, derailed, and its last carriages hit the adjacent track, hitting the Renfe squad going from Madrid to Huelva. As a result, both trains fell off the rails.
According to Spanish media, at least 73 passengers were injured, of which 15 are in dense condition.
