The genesis of the celebration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is linked to the perpetuation of godliness and worship. The decree approving the office and Holy Mass promoted Clement XIII. 6 February 1765. The intent of the celebration is to renew the memory of God’s love! The mystery of God’s love demands that we remind of it.
There began to be absurd allegations regarding the worship of the Sacred Heart that we worship the “piece” of Jesus, not worshiping the Person, but the Heart. Pope Pius XII in the Encyclical ‘Haurietis aquas’ – about the service to the Sacred Heart – replied to this complaint. He explains that the heart is simply a symbol of love, and so a individual who loves. Jesus ’ heart is simply a symbol of God’s love, and this celebration is to remind us.
The Lord Jesus himself desired to be honored through this peculiar day of his heart. Therefore, efforts to establish specified a vacation are taken very widely, in various bodies.
