On its website, the German abroad Ministry now warns its citizens that increased enforcement of immigration rules under US president Donald Trump may lead to the detention or deportation of travellers.

The guidelines were updated after respective German nationals were detained at entry points to the US and any of them were held for respective days before being sent back. The authorities now explicitly inform that even insignificant offences — specified as exceeding the visa word or providing false travel plans — — may origin immediate deportation or future ban.

The guidelines consequence from changes made during Trump's second term. The White home pushes aggressive politics at borders. Although its main nonsubjective is to reduce undocumented immigration, any European citizens have been caught "networked".

One of the German travelers described that was held in handcuffs prior to deportation from the American-Mexican border, while another spent over a week in Boston detention center.

Berlin refrained from formally reviving travel, but this movement signals rising tensions with Washington.
