Surprising! Kluzik-Rostkowska praises Dworczyk's actions

At this time, thanks to the budget secured by Mateusz Morawiecki, we were able to contract the largest arms purchases in many decades, while introducing legal changes (the Law on Defence of the Motherland) and organizational changes (including the improvement of many armed forces). No government before us (I do not even mention the current one) besides had the courage and means to make specified revolutionary decisions. But unfortunately, we did not quit the Ottawa Treaty. All the more reason to appreciate the political decision of the current parliamentary majority. Why is that important? due to the fact that the mines, which reminded brutally the war in Ukraine, are a means of combat essential for effective defence. Ukrainians found this in 2023, during a counteroffensive in the south of the country entrenched on the Sorowikin line. all day, Ukrainian and Russian soldiers on the front line find this to be actual by causing wounds and killings each day with mines.

Yes, mines are a very inhumane countermeasure – but very effective. Cost – effect. They can be produced in bulk and cheap. By comparison, the cost of 1 simple mine starts with PLN 1,000. The cost of 155 mm projectile starts with 20 1000 PLN (prices from 2023). 2 weeks ago, I visited a brigade close Kupansk, which in 24 hours was on average a 4th of a 1000 mines. Day by day... And Ukraine has over 100 brigades... So, if we're truly reasoning about defense, then we gotta plan the engineering preparation of the site, and as a part of this, 1 of the fundamental issues is mincing. And soon, I hope, we can begin preparing for this part of building our resilience. I must admit that for any time (experience from Ukraine) mines have been my idée fix (and frankly, I have always had a weakness for high-energy materials, especially crushing ones)

That is why, even as an MP of the Republic of Poland, I took a seminar in the Sejm on mines and exit from the Ottawa Convention, which is why, as a Member, I prepared a draft resolution of the Sejm (in the freezer of Marshal Simon Holown until today) calling on the government to leave the Ottawa Convention, which is why I convinced politicians of PO and PSL, I did conferences, etc., so that we could produce and usage anti-personnel mines

Michał Dworczyk thanked a number of people who participated in the discussion on the withdrawal from the Ottawa Convention.
