The fresh Europe Institute, thanks to a grant from the NATO Public Diplomacy Division, is pleased to hold a conference "25 Years of Poland in NATO—Past, Present and Future Commission of Poland". The aim of the conference is to reflect on Poland's current function in the Alliance and the possibilities facing our country in the future.

1. Military Panel: Armed Forces of Poland – the road to NATO, evolution and future function in the Alliance.

How did the Polish Armed Forces accomplish operational capabilities akin to another NATO forces, and what future awaits Polish troops in the context of further expansion?

The aim of the panel is to outline the road that the Polish army has been through since the 1990s – changes and modernizations that had to be introduced in order to get operational and interoperable capabilities at the level of another allied armies. In this respect, we will discuss the experience we have gained in abroad missions in Afghanistan, Kosovo and Iraq, as well as Poland's current position in the Alliance within the east flank. Another part of the panel will be the answer to the question of the future of the Polish army in times of unstable geopolitical situation and war at our east borders, as well as the challenges associated with modernization of the Polish arms industry.

2. Political Panel: Poland in NATO, NATO in Poland – how did the Alliance's membership change Poland's global position and what challenges face it in the context of the threat of war?

The aim of the panel is to item the change in Poland's position on the global phase in relation to membership in NATO. How does Poland's presence in the Alliance affect transatlantic relations and with another countries of the region? Another part of the panel will be the answer to the question of what risks and opportunities Poland faces in the context of the ongoing war in Ukraine and possible conflict with the Russian Federation.
