"From psyche to front". How Russia recruits mentally sick people for war

In Russia, the "D" category – unfit for military service, is replaced with "B" in the case of mentally sick people – “with clear persistent painful manifestations”. In August 2025, the Kremlin changed the paper "Regulamin on military medical examination", in which they moved from "D" to "B" neurotic disorders and personality disorders, as well as acute alcoholic psychosis and chronic alcoholism. Citizens with wellness category "B" can sign military contracts and service on the front line. And if they had a intellectual breakdown during front service, they could have 50 days of leave in the back.
