On a Sunday program “The seventh day of the week” At Radio Zet, politicians discussed the result of the presidential election and the situation in the ruling coalition. The guests included Euro MP Krzysztof Śmiszek, Confederacy MP Witold Tumanowicz and PiS MP Łukasz Schreiber. Unpresented draft laws and controversy about the amendment on hatred speech became the main topic.
Smile: The main problem was not to present laws
Krzysztof Śmiszek, erstwhile Deputy Minister of Justice, expressed his conviction that the key reason for the failure of Rafał Trzaskowski and another candidates of the ruling coalition was the failure to implement the laws promised in the campaign.
– You could have introduced the bill. – reminded the leader Andrzej Stankiewicz.
– Yes, I did. For example, the hatred speech bill was presented, adopted by the government, adopted by the Sejm, referred to the Constitutional Court by the President Said Snot. – If we were all doing what we did in the Ministry of Justice, possibly the situation would be different. – he added.
President Duda referred the bill to the Constitutional Court
The draft amendment to the Criminal Code was intended to extend protection against hatred speech and offences motivated by prejudice due to disability, age, sex or sexual orientation. The PiS and the Confederacy opposed the changes, claiming that they could lead to restrictions on freedom of expression.
In April, president Andrzej Duda directed the bill to the Constitutional Court under preventive control, which stopped its entry into force.
Confederate on Nawrocki's victory
Mr Witold Tumanowicz (Confederation) stated that Karol Nawrocki had won the election thanks to the support of the voters of Sławomir Mentzen.
– Nawrocki convinced Mentzen and Confederate voters that he was critical of the governments of the Law and Justice in terms of covid, migration, taxation and green governance policies said Tumanovich.
Sharp exchange between Schreiber and Stankiewicz
During the program there was a tension between PiS MP Łukasz Schreiber and Andrzej Stankiewicz. The reason was the publications on Karol Nawrocki, although the details of the dispute were not further discussed.
