Xi Jinping gave Trump the touchdown.

China announced in the UN an ambitious plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 7–10% to 2035. It covers all gases and sectors of the economy, a clear departure from the declarations to date.

Beijing's plans include:

• expanding sales of electrical vehicles,
six times expanding the power of wind and solar installations over a decade,
• expanding the share of non-fossil energy in the energy mix to over 30%.

China's leader Xi Jinping utilized his speech at the UN to address the criticism of Donald Trump, who referred to the fight against climate change as "fraud". Trump accused China of building wind turbines despite the declarations, but they do not usage them, and there are “very fewer wind farms” in the country.

Meanwhile, in fresh months China has installed evidence amounts of fresh wind power — t46 GW arrived in the first 5 months of 2025.
