Russia launched present the first rocket from a repaired launch site in a Baikonur cosmodrome leased by SIEBIE in Kazakhstan, meaning that the anticipation to fly to the global Space Station (ISS) was restored.
At 1 p.m. the Polish Soyuz-2.1a rocket with the cargo spacecraft advancement MS-33 took off and was taken out into orbit – the Russian space agency reported. The ship is expected to dock to ISS on March 24.
The launch station has been out of service since last November was severely damaged during the launch of the Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft with 2 Russian cosmonauts. No 1 was injured then, and the cosmonauts safely arrived at the ISS, but Russia could not send crews or cargo to the station.
