In 2020, due to the pandemic, the authorities decided to hold presidential elections on correspondence terms, alleged envelopes. However, the opposition at the time and part of the PiS coalitions considered this action illegal and the authorities withdrew from this idea. Following the October 15, 2023 election, the Sejm set up an investigative committee to analyse the legality of the enveloped election. Dariusz Joński was the chairman, who was celebrated for having placed the Warsaw Uprising in 1988.
