The exercises were aimed at checking the readiness to operate and procedures for the cooperation of the Territorial Defence Army with non-military entities during search and rescue activities carried out in a vast and hard area.

RECLAMA

The script of the exercise assumed the disappearance of a nine-man household in the area of Łąk Studieniecki. While walking with the dog, as a consequence of a abrupt sonic stimulus, the animal drifted distant in an unknown direction. Attempting to find him led to confusion between household members and failure of orientation in the field. After receiving the notification, they took exploratory action. The police, with the engagement of the Forest Guard, located a vehicle belonging to the missing in the lake area in Łąki Studieniecki. This information was the basis for launching a broad search action.

Use of rescue forces and escalation of actions

The GRP of the BIZON and Guestradz TSO, with teams of guides and rescue dogs, was first addressed. Following a preliminary analysis of the situation, it was found that the available forces were insufficient due to the size of the search area and complex terrain conditions. It was so decided to strengthen the action through the engagement of Division 8 of the K-PBOT.

Upon arrival, the soldiers were included in the structure of the action command. The forces were divided into respective task forces, the alleged "fast fives", which were then sent to search the designated sectors.

The teams acted in accordance with the procedures adopted, conducting systematic site search in close coordination with rescuers and dog guides. The hard terrain - afforestation, elevations and limited availability of roads - required quite a few marching discipline, efficient communication and precise reporting of progress.

After the victims were located, soldiers secured the area and supported the rescue. Evacuation was carried out, among others, utilizing quads, which allowed the victims to be moved smoothly.
