Iran launched 2 mid-range ballistic missiles towards the U.S. and UK military base on Diego Garcia Island in the Indian Ocean, reported the "Wall Street Journal" on Friday. According to sources in the U.S. administration, no of the missiles hit the target.
As the log revealed, 1 of the rockets had a method failure during the flight. Towards the second missile, an American warship launched an anti-Balistic SM-3 missile. It was not specified whether it occurred
for successful interception, or the Iranian rocket self-missed.
CNN station, citing an American official, confirmed that the attack took place on Friday morning local time. "None of them hit the base," said the station's caller, adding that the missiles had reached a distance of nearly 3.8 1000 km from the Iranian coast.
So far, the White home and the Pentagon have not issued an authoritative communication on this issue.
