On the website of School and Kindergarten squad No. 4 in Wrocław There was a unusual announcement.. It shows that for today, October 29, students were to come to classes dressed in the colours of the German flag – black, red and yellow. Indeed, the school asks the students to dress like this.
Wrocław students paraded in German national colours. The another Primary School No. 40, which is part of the Bolesław Iwaszkiewicz School and Kindergarten Group No. 4 was placed at the centre of controversy after the announcement of “German Day” as part of the yearly Week of abroad Languages.
The announcement, which was published in the school event section, reads: "On that day, 3 colors will reign in our school – black, red and yellow! Put on something in these colors so that we can all make a great, colorful atmosphere together!’ The facility besides announced the school's "photo-building day of Germany", encouraging children to share photos in the colours of our western neighbours.
In erstwhile years, students besides dressed up in German, but besides in British, Ukrainian and Polish flags. However, the case sparked a discussion on the Internet. Many commentators rightly asked whether a school could be found in Germany, which would encourage students to change into Polish national colours, as part of the abroad Languages Week.
On this occasion, it is worth reminding that in the field of the Polish national number in the western neighbour, the Nazi Act of 1940 inactive applies, prohibiting the designation of Poles as an authoritative national minority.
Although in 1945, The Polish Union in Germany reactivated its activities, and in 1950 it was officially registered with the German national Republic, until now it is incapable to settle the rejection of Nazi government and regaining the position of a national number for Poles. Therefore, the Union is limited to supporting Polish language learning in public schools and usharing the support of Polonia, through the organisation of cultural events and the preservation of historical heritage.
Drop from ZSP No. 4 WrocławOUR COMMENTS: Everything indicates that this time the alarm announced on the net did not make much sense. However, it is worth recalling how Germans treat Poles in their country. Despite the fact that even a fewer million of our countrymen have been there, they have not been allowed to ask for a national number for years. At the same time, Germany has this position in Poland and regularly introduces respective MPs to the Warsaw Parliament.
