Attempt to cancel Hennig-Kloski
The vote of distrust against 2 crucial ministers is the main item of the last day of the Sejm. The political tension is very high, especially among the ruling groups. The request for the cancellation of Paulina Hennig-Kloski was supported by over 80 MPs, mainly from the PiS and the Confederates, who accuse her of mistakes in the implementation of the Clean Air Programme and the introduction of the bailout system.
Representatives of the ruling coalition announce opposition to the appeal of the minister. The proposal was previously negatively assessed by the Parliamentary Committee on the Environment, Natural Resources and Forestry, where the vote ratio was 21 to 15. The appeal case coincided with tensions between the Polish club 2050 and the club Centre. Paulina Hennig-Kloska had previously lost her interior election to Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz and left the group, forming her own club.
Some Members of Poland 2050 considered the anticipation of supporting the proposal. Prime Minister Donald Tusk noted that the vote would be a test of coalition unity. The club's final decision is to be taken just before the vote. After talks with Polish politicians 2050, however, tension seems to decrease. The debate was scheduled from 9:00 to 10:45.
Soyka claims privatization
PiS MP Katarzyna Sójka, erstwhile Minister of Health, presented a motion for a vote of distrust against Minister Jolanta Sobieranska-Grenda, abandoned her actions threatening the wellness and life of patients. She pointed to the limitations on the backing of diagnostics, extending queues to professionals and the evidence number of people waiting for benefits reimbursed by the NFZ, including more than 1 million urgent patients. She besides added that the NFZ was behind on hospitals reaching respective billion zlotys and accused the ministry of failing to fight effectively for backing wellness care. In her opinion, this leads to a weakening of the public strategy and a gradual increase in the function of the private sector.
Jolanta Sobieranska-Grenda admitted that there were financial shortages in the NFZ, indicating that this problem had been anticipated since 2022, following the introduction of a law expanding expenditure on increases in wellness care without full securing the measures. She besides pointed out that from 2023 the proceeds from the wellness contribution did not cover the needs of the Fund.
The Minister stressed that the budget of the NFZ is presently evidence and amounts to PLN 217 billion, while in 2021 it was PLN 100 billion. It ensured that the ministry’s activities were to strengthen the public system, not weaken it, indicating that strong public wellness protection limits space for the private sector.
During the meeting, she was asked, among others, about the situation of region hospitals, the closure of wards, access to births, the improvement of psychiatry, the limitation of imaging studies and plans for changes in backing the wellness system.
No Effects
The parliamentary committee besides gave an opinion at its Wednesday gathering on the proposal for a vote of distrust of the Minister of Health. 19 Members voted against, 15 were in favour, and no 1 abstained.
More than 160 PiS Members have signed a motion of distrust, alleging that it lacks a coherent strategy to remedy the deteriorating wellness system. The proposal abandoned the Minister's deficiency of real work effects, indicating that the only visible consequence of her word of office is to hide cuts in the National wellness Fund budget.
The Sejm may give the Minister a vote of no assurance in the statutory majority of Members. The votes scheduled for Thursday will be held early in the afternoon and will besides include a proposal for the head of the climate department and the environment of Paulina Hennig-Kloski.
