Not only major global maneuvers, but besides cooperation with allies at the level of individual platoons – training of PKW Romania is practically ongoing. Recently, during training in the field in Botoșești-Paia, Polish and Romanian soldiers have passed a test of how their subdivisions were reunited erstwhile they jointly countered the enemy's attack.
The opponent entered Romania. Its subdivisions were spotted, among others, in the vicinity of Botoșești-Paia. Poles from the close NATO base were ordered to conduct a reconnaissance. There's a platoon on patrol. Rosomak wheel armored transporters. shortly the soldiers came across an enemy pole. There's been a firefight. It besides shortly turned out that the opponent has the advantage – he operates the company. We decided to retreat and regroup. After examining the situation, however, we concluded that we were able to wing our opponent, attack and halt his march. We enjoyed the terrain and the fact that we could number on the support of Romanian soldiers – the officer who commands the Polish platoon reported. shortly there was a clash. Poles attacked from the left wing. The Romanians appeared on the right in the Piranha III armoured transporters, who fired on the opponent with deck rifles. His march was hampered.
This was the script of the exercises in which the soldiers serving in XV amendment of the PCW Romania. But that is not the end. The training component was firing sharp ammunition. Polish military first opened fire with RPG anti-tank grenade launchers. – The mark were somewhat armored infantry vehicles, or more specifically their wrecks deployed on the camp. The soldiers were nearly 400 metres distant from their positions, the officer explains. At the same time, Romanians fired mortars. After the end of this episode, bomb squads from both countries entered the action. They've been sweeping the forefield for misfires. In conclusion, soldiers fired an automatic grenade launcher MK-19 and Beryl rifles. “According to the assumption, the fire part was an integral part of the scenario,” explains the Polish officer.
It seems like quite a few exercise. However, specified training is the essence of the mission of PKW Romania. “We came here primarily to train and play with allied forces. Build interoperability at different levels. We do this practically all the time – admits Major Michał Miedelski, commander of the XV change of the Polish quota. At the turn of October and November Polish soldiers took part in large-scale maneuvers “Black Scorpions Legacy” and “Dacian Fall”. Almost 1,500 military from 8 countries and combat aviation and artillery participated. Poles collaborated, among others, with Romanians, French, Portuguese and Northern Macedonian soldiers. During the first exercise in the field, a battalion consisting of respective companies of mixed national composition operated. Each included platoons from different countries. Now, not the full company, but a single platoon, practiced side by side with allies.
The activity of the troops that are stationed in Romania is besides a demonstration that is part of the Nattarian strategy of deterrence. The Alliance wants to show that he's determined to counter Russia's possible impact on the east flank. And what is crucial is to make it a joint effort by a larger group of associate States. It's an intense time for us, but that's why we're here. The platoons, and so the full company, are trained in the full cast, we have plenty of ammunition and all the another materials essential for the exercise. We want to usage it to the maximum – emphasised Major Miedeliewski.
PKW Romania has been operating since 2017. About 250 soldiers are served in the quota, who have at their disposal respective KTO Rosomak. The main strength of the current change is the soldiers of the 12th Mechanized Brigade from Szczecin. Their colleagues from the 17th Wielkopolska Mechanized Brigade will arrive at the 16th shift, who have just completed certification at the camp in Wędrzyn.
