The operation of Ukrainian services under the code name ‘Midas’ which led to the disclosure of bribes to corrupt officials, businessmen and politicians associated with the state company Enerhoatom is the latest corruption scandal in Ukraine. It is besides another scandal in a country that over 30 years after the collapse of the USSR cannot cope with the problem of corruption among political and business elites. Scandals accompanied all presidents after 1991.
