Effects of drone attack on Russian fuel depot
————————————
The drone war got out of hand: The West is playing with fire, risking a direct NATO-Russia war.

New Article Service Naked Capitalism presents a grim image of the current escalation of the war in Ukraine. survey entitled "Armed home of Mads – Threat of Escalation of Drons in Ukraine" describes a phenomenon that is becoming increasingly dangerous: The West seems to believe that it can gradually attack Russia with expanding force, without leading to a direct confrontation between NATO and Moscow.
But this presumption could be a terrible mistake.
What's happening now is much more than regional war. A completely fresh form of permanent escalation appears – cheap, decentralised, technologically combined and practically uncontrolled.
Ukraine massively deploys long-range drones against targets located deep in Russia. Rafineries, military installations, energy infrastructure and strategical facilities are increasingly under attack. It has long been known that many of these operations would be virtually impossible without western satellite data, designation of targets, software, communication technologies and NATO support.
In this way, the boundary between indirect aid and direct participation in the war becomes increasingly blurred.
And that's what makes the situation explosive.
NATO seems to presume that drone attacks are a kind of "controlled escalation" – insignificant stings aimed at weakening Russia without causing a mass reaction. However, from Moscow's perspective, another image emerges: a creeping war fought by the full Western alliance against Russia.
The illusion of technological distance is peculiarly dangerous. Drones drastically lower the political threshold of attacks. Politicians can act more aggressively without losing their own soldiers. This is what makes political escalation easier.
But reality is more violent:
In the end, it does not substance whether a rocket, drone or satellite strategy will be utilized — It's who makes it possible to carry out the attack.
The more Russia's main territory is attacked, the greater the probability of an asymmetrical or direct response.
Recent warnings by Russian SWR to NATO states specified as Latvia show how serious Moscow is about this situation. Russia is increasingly signaling that NATO will not be automatically inaccessible if they are prepared or supported by attacks on Russia.
This dangerously brings Europe closer to an historical critical point.
Because the modern drone war changes the full logic of global deterrence.
In the past, direct attacks on the main powers were rare, costly and highly risky. present comparatively inexpensive drones can:
- Paralyze the airports
- oil refineries are damaged
- destabilisation of energy networks
- Communication centres meet
- Distortion of civilian infrastructure
But defence costs billions.
It seems that the West is inactive pursuing escalation:
- Increasing coverage
- increasingly aggressive operations
- Deeper Attacks
- Increasing integration with NATO
At the same time, the public is told that all of this can be controlled.
But this is possibly the top danger of our time.
The planet is not threatened by a planned planet war, but by a string of seemingly insignificant escalation steps, which each organization believes is inactive in control.
Meanwhile, the direct confrontation between atomic powers is getting closer.
The real question is no longer whether the situation will increase.
However, the question is whether anyone in Washington, Brussels and Moscow can halt the escalation spiral in time.
