KC-135 Stratotanker or KC-46A Pegasus are the foundation of a global US force projection. They enable long-range bombers and fighters to operate, thus providing not so much logistical support as an essential component of offensive and defensive activities in the air. Their concentration in bases specified as Al Udeid in Qatar allows Washington to keep readiness to strike targets in Iran or in its sphere of influence.
