According to the findings of BBC News Russian, conducted jointly with the independent Mediazona portal and a group of volunteers, it was possible to confirm the names of nearly 160 1000 people killed on the Russian side. This data has been collected since February 2022 on the basis of authoritative communications, press articles, social media entries and information about fresh graves and war memorials. However, journalists stress that this is only part of the actual losses.
