Italian defence minister Guido Crosetto said present that the government in Rome is considering the anticipation of rapidly providing assistance to the Gulf countries. He stressed that specified support was requested by all countries in the region.
The day before, Minister Crosetto reported in the legislature that after the US and Israel attacked Iran and the retaliation of Tehran, Gulf countries had asked Italy to aid defend and logistics. As he said, it's not about guns.
This proposal, he announced, will go to parliament.
On Tuesday, the head of the defence department said to ANSA agency:
– All the Gulf countries have now asked us for help. Italy is considering how to aid them, both from the point of view of the tools that can be given and from the point of view of the legal system.
As 1 of the possible fast solutions Crosetto listed the decree with the law.
When asked whether Italy intends to make its bases available in the case of an American request under offensive actions against Iran, the Minister replied:
– It's not my decision, it's the government's. erstwhile they ask us to, we'll answer.
