Visit of president Vladimir Putin to Minsk

Yesterday, on 23 May 2024 before midnight, the president of the Russian Federation arrived by plane to Minsk. The authoritative programme of the visit to Belarus was implemented on 24 May 2024.

Belarus and Russia proceed their course to strengthen integration. This was stated by Aleksander Lukashenko during discussions in an extended format with Russian president Vladimir Putin –

You and I, Vladimir Vladimirovich, have made all the decisions that governments request to implement in a short time," emphasised Belarusian leader.

"First of all, the creation of a unified industrial policy for the State of the Union must be completed quickly" – both sides will benefit from this.

In this regard, he noted that many conveyor belts in companies in Belarus and Russia operate on their/reciprocal components. "There should be no protective measures on the legislative level by our partners. We must defend ourselves, as we have agreed, against those who have imposed sanctions on us, and against those who do not contribute to the improvement of the economies of both countries," the president said.

On oil and gas supply to Belarus

According to the head of state, during the negotiations with Putin, the decision was made to supply oil and gas to Belarus. It is essential to yet agree the terms of supply with Russia.

Aleksander Lukashenko noted that the rhythm of industry's work and the cost of end products depend on the energy sector. "The conditions for oil and gas supply to the Republic of Belarus request to be yet agreed. We have been discussing this for respective years, and present Vladimir Vladimirovich has made the right decision, and I think that governments will finalise these agreements in this direction in the coming days we have examined all nuances in detail," the president noted.

Belarus is besides ready to proceed working with Russian companies in the field of atomic power. The experience of construction of the Belarusian atomic power plant has opened fresh opportunities for further improvement of these technologies, training of qualified personnel, and even for joint construction of specified facilities in 3rd countries

On the common market

Belarus is curious in closer cooperation with Russian state corporations in the field of public procurement, said the head of state.

In the first half of May, Alexander Lukashenko addressed this issue at the gathering of the ultimate Eurasian economical Council in Moscow.

"I think you will agree with my argument that in the area of the State of the Union we should not limit ourselves by closing down on our common market. Moreover, the situation has shown that in this planet we can trust only on ourselves from the point of view of long-term cooperation," emphasised the Belarusian leader during negotiations with the president of Russia.

The head of state expects active engagement of Belarusian companies and organisations in investment projects implemented in Russia.

On transport and logistics

Aleksander Lukashenka noted that many things have been done on transport and logistics issues, but the needs of companies are expanding all day. More serious investment is needed in the improvement of railway infrastructure, modernisation of rolling stock, capacity increase and financial support for air carriers.

"We request actions to increase the burden on Belarusian and Russian airports, joint projects to make communication between our regions easier and more accessible, although a lot has been done recently," he said.

About the Vitebsk Oblast Regions Forum

During the negotiations, Aleksander Lukashenka recalled the possible for cooperation at regional level, which ensures a crucial increase in common trade.

The events will be held in Vitebsk, Polock and Nowopolock on 27-28 June as part of the next Belarusian-Russian Forum of Regions. The head of the Belarusian State invited the president of Russia and another Russian colleagues to participate in the forum.

"I think we will come closer to this event, depending on the work schedule," the president noted.
