William Blake, sometimes referred to as “Mad Blake”, was born from London in 1757 in the James and Catherine household of Wright. He himself made an entry in William Upcott's album in 1826: “William Blake, who is very happy to be in good company. He was born on 28 November 1757 in London and died respective times.”1. And these words could in rule be the shortest and at the same time the most complete, biogram of this artist. According to Georges Bataille, “the life of Blake seems almost trivial: it was regular and without extraordinary accidents”2. And that could most likely be stopped if it were not for his wonderful work, and the fact that he had mystical visions from childhood. These 2 elements inevitably bonded together due to the fact that all creation was a natural consequence of these visions.
