This donation would take place again within a coalition with another Leopard 2 users specified as Portugal and Finland. The Netherlands presently does not have its own primary tanks in the state of its army, only 18 Leopards 2A6 borrowed from Germany as part of the 414th German-Dutch armored battalion. In 2011, as a consequence of the cuts in the defence budget, Amsterdam decided to retreat its own Leopards 2A6 (including a reserve of over 120 units), which were subsequently sold to Finland (100 copies) and Germany (20 copies). The key issue here, however, will be the issue of Berlin's approval for both the redemption of these tanks (which are further part of the Bundeswehr) and their transfer to Kiev.
