The large journey to Monte Cassino 2026 went into history, but emotions, emotions and memories will stay with us forever.
For 9 days we walked together in Italian dirt in traces of faith, past and Polish heroes. From Assisi and the tomb of St Francis, through Rome and the Vatican, to Monte Cassino – all day was a unique lesson of patriotism, community and memory.
The climax of our journey was the anniversary celebrations of the conflict of Monte Cassino and the prayer at the Polish War Cemetery, where soldiers of the 2nd Polish Corps of General Władysław Anders rest. In the silence of the cemetery, among the white and red flags, poppies and lit candles, each of us felt large pride and gratitude towards those who gave their lives for free Poland.
It was an extraordinary journey besides due to the fact that it brought together generations. The pilgrimage was attended by full families, youth, seniors, as well as children and descendants of soldiers fighting at Monte Cassino. For many people it was a journey full of individual emotions and household memories.
Together we prayed in the most crucial sanctuaries of Italy – in the Vatican at the grave of St John Paul II, in Loreto, Cascia, Padua and Assisi. We visited places that have been building the Christian identity of Europe for centuries.
But the large Exit is not just a tour and a celebration. It is primarily a community of people whose values combine: historical memory, faith, patriotism and love for Poland. Talks in coaches, singing together, prayers and moments of emotion created an atmosphere that cannot be described in words.
We thank all participants for their presence, commitment and beautiful evidence of patriotism. We thank the organizers, the spiritual guardians, and all who have contributed to this journey being so special.
Monte Cassino remains a symbol of the courage, sacrifice and triumph of the spirit. We return to Poland rich with experiences that will stay in our hearts for life.
