The home of Lords adopted a draft amendment to the law, which assumes the abolition of criminal liability for abortion women – regardless of the phase of pregnancy. If the bill is signed by King Charles III, the fresh regulations may enter into force as early as mid-April 2026.
185 lords voted in favour of the changes, 148 against. Earlier in June 2025, the task was supported by the home of Commons. This means that the legislative process is practically complete.
