Why is it so hard for Russia to intimidate Estonia?

The Kremlin has taken offense at the Estonians for announcing that they will defend themselves, and as usual boasts that it will rapidly wipe the Estonians off the map. However, the country's geography, consistent defence buildup and NATO membership, could leave the Russians in for more than a fewer nasty surprises if they attempted specified an action.
