After watching an interview in March 2023 with Mr. Roma Ligocka, which I had never heard of before – and a pity! – in the media, I just read her shocking book "Girl in a Red Coat". At the end, the author describes the gathering with Spielberg:
Steven Spielberg enters the room. He's smiling.
My friend tries, excited, to introduce me to the director.
– This is Roma, Roma, who...
Spielberg is shaking my hand, smiling again. He's in a hurry. He has to go to the airport.
– This is the girl in the red coat – Anne calls for him.
But he can't hear. He's gone.
And this is an autobiographical description of the gathering between Mr.Roma and the large manager on 2 March 1994 in Krakow. During the screening of the film, Mr. Ligock realized that she had been shown fates and decided to compose the aforementioned book.
But just a minute ago, while searching for comments on this book and its author, I came across a very different description:
This is Roma Ligocka, author and painter.
When I saw Schindler's letter and saw a girl in a red coat in 1 of the scenes, I was shocked.
It was me, it was my story, my fate. It was me, in the Krakow ghetto, I was wearing this beautiful coat! How did Spielberg come up with this?! I had to find out and get to him. But I wanted to show him that this girl was alive.
Getting to Spielberg wasn't easy. But my circumstances were favorable. I lived in Germany at the time, and he was about to attend a gala attended by the president. I made hundreds of calls to get there. And it worked. I sat next to Spielberg. erstwhile he found out I was the girl from his film, he broke up, grabbed my hand and shouted, "How glad I am that you're alive! His movie was mainly based on a communicative by a hebrew who remembered me from those years. And here's the communicative in the movie.
Right after my gathering with the director, the phones rang. I was very rapidly offered to compose a book, and I felt like I wanted to compose it.
I don't realize why Mr. Roma had a very different image of this crucial episode in her book. Why didn't she describe this gathering in a second, quoted way?
Another interview, akin to the erstwhile one, but besides different from the book:
I knew there was a movie called Schindler's List. The war movies didn't interest me, I was crying erstwhile I saw soldiers, Germans, Gestapo on the screen. But I was invited, so I went to the premiere in Krakow. There was Spielberg, behind me was Wałęsa, ministers, bishops. unusual set. I'm sitting, I don't know what the movie's about. abruptly I see a ghetto, my uncle, who was Schindler's accountant. There's a full bunch of people in my neighborhood, in my family, and I yet see myself. A girl in a red coat.

I was in Munich erstwhile Spielberg arrived in Germany, the president handed him a medal. I saw on tv this morning that Spielberg is standing in a judaic cemetery in Berlin and praying, and then I said to myself, “You will go and meet him.” I called the head of the German president's protocol with mad courage that I was a girl in a red coat. I request to see Spielberg. The authoritative said: “I’m going to have a heart attack by you! Give me half an hour.” He called back and said I'd be sitting at a banquet next to Spielberg. I only took 1 image of Romek Polanski, Rysiek Horowitz, his sister and me. 4 children rescued from the Holocaust. My father took the image right after the war. I went to Spielberg with this picture. He says: “I know this, this is Romek, Rysiek. And this is you?” He took me in his arms, we kissed for a long time. That's how I could tell the press erstwhile they asked about Spielberg that nobody kissed like him! We talked at the banquet, he remembered me, he spoke erstwhile I was in the States. They started inviting me to TV, to the media. I realized it wasn't adequate to say a fewer sentences on camera. You can calm down and deeper, like I'm telling Spielberg. I was fortunate that thanks to this brief but violent interest in me, the publishing houses went crazy to print my book. I wrote it in German with a good German. I had no problems with my debutante. destiny gave me that chance.
How was it? After all, there are inactive witnesses to a gathering in the cinema, and the author herself could explain the substance in detail?
The movie in question is black and white, but the girl's coat, or Mr. Romy, is red, which cured the terrible transmission of the work.
