Ukraine has defended its independence, but not necessarily its territories, and Belarus remains, above all, a challenge for Warsaw. Wojciech Kozioł and Bartłomiej Wypartowicz—authors of the books *Between the Bug and the Truth* and *The War We Don’t Want* — point out that lessons must be learned from the war in Ukraine—especially those concerning civilian defence and administration—without naively copying solutions, and that signals from Minsk should be interpreted with large caution.
