The Confucius Institute in Krakow invites everyone to a series of lectures by Dr. Ewa Wiśniewska entitled “Chinese martial arts”.

The series of lectures will concern the gongfu (kungfu) / wushu, which is simply a perfect example of military traditions circumstantial to east Asian countries. A broad spectrum of possibilities will be shown to consider various aspects of Chinese martial arts as a unique cultural product.

First talk combined with the presentation of the white weapon “What Do You Rule, large Warrior?” will be held on Friday 31 March at 6 p.m. in area 3.04 at the office of the Confucius Institute in Krakow.

During the event, it will be possible to learn how Chinese martial arts styles and systems developed in the vast areas of China over 5,000 years. Despite large diversity, they all utilized the same weapon available in a given historical age.

The diversity of weapons was influenced by factors specified as the sculpture of the territory of individual provinces (wetlands, deserts, forests, mountains), physical predispositions of warriors, local culture and lifestyle (sailers, farmers, troops), the circumstantial intent of individual weapons and the application of appropriate combat strategies.

The intent of the presentation will be to discuss the specificity of Chinese weapons. Its applications in selected conventional gongfu (kungfu) styles will besides be discussed.

The lecture will be complemented by a presentation of white weapons utilized in the gongfu (kungfu)/wushu training.

Dr. Ewa Wiśniewska is simply a theorist, practitioners and enthusiast of Chinese martial arts, a multimedia student of the planet Championships, Europe and Poland in conventional wushu.
