"We represent Hungarian interests: we do not want to proceed to pay the price for another people's wars and we will not let anyone endanger our safety of energy supply," said Szijjarto on Facebook.

The head of diplomacy referred to Tusk's words, which in the entry on the X platform stated that if Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban blocked European sanctions against Russia, this would mean that he "played in the Putin's (Wladimir) team".

"If Viktor Orban truly blocks European sanctions at the crucial minute of war, it will be absolutely clear that he is playing for Putin's squad in this large game of safety and the future of Europe, not ours. With all the consequences of this” – wrote the head of the Polish government.

"It may be hard for Agent Soros to realize this, but erstwhile it comes to teams, we play for the Hungarian team" – he referred to the words of Polish Prime Minister Szijjarto.

On Friday, Hungarian opposition leader Peter Magyar posted photos from a gathering with “the delegation of the Polish Prime Minister” on Facebook. These include Andrzej Halicki and Janusz Lewandowski. “This way, too,” Magyar wrote.

Orban reiterated in a Friday radio interview that his country would not support the extension of sanctions on Russia unless Ukraine resumed Russian gas transit to Europe. "It is unacceptable for us to bear the economical consequences of sanctions to aid Ukraine," said the Prime Minister in a weekly interview with Radio Kossuth.

According to Orban, Kiev's actions, specified as the termination of Russian gas transit to Europe, have led to an increase in natural material prices in the EU and, due to EU sanctions on Russia, Hungary was expected to lose EUR 19 billion over the last 3 years.

Orban urged the Kiev authorities to resume transit of Russian gas and to warrant that Ukraine would not block oil supplies to Europe.

Wednesday, U.S. president Donald Trump stated that if the agreement to end the war in Ukraine was not reached soon, Washington would impose advanced taxes, duties and sanctions on Russia. As the Politico portal wrote on Thursday, citing diplomatic sources, Budapest may abandon the threat of veto in connection with Trump's firm stance towards Russia.

Another decision to extend sanctions must be taken by the EU by 31 January. A gathering of Community abroad ministers is scheduled for Monday.
