Our Club took part in an highly moving event. On May 7, 2026, the soldiers of Henry Flam “Bartek” came back in a deadly way, in a beastly way murdered in Opole in the Ubek liquidation operation “Lavin”, 1 of the largest communist crimes. The first remains of 100 soldiers who disappeared without a trace in September 1946 were recovered and identified by IPN after 70 years in March 2016.
The last farewell began at the Grap Chapel, where 58 coffins were exhibited with the remains of the steadfast. It was a time of prayer, focus and individual goodbye for families. Then the coffins were moved in a ceremonial military conduct in front of the field altar, where Bishop Wiesław Lechowicz celebrated the Holy Mass, which was attended by the president of Poland, 3 deputy president of the IPN, including the most deserved for the search by Dr. Krzysztof Szwagrzyk, as well as the families of the victims, representatives of the authorities, patriotic communities, clergy and residents of the region. In his homily, the bishop stressed the importance of love for his homeland, combining the words of the Gospel "Sustain in my love" with the attitude of the NSZ soldiers. He pointed out that patriotism and willingness to sacrifice their lives for Poland were for them an expression of love for their neighbour and faithfulness to their own nation.
After Mass, president Karol Nawrocki said: “It is simply a symbolic return of justice and the return of our large heroes. [...] It was in your families, your hearts, your minds that survived for decades. [...] even though it's a funeral, we're enjoying ourselves a little. due to the fact that they return, as heroes, [...] it is the return of truth. The return of heroes whose communists wanted to erase from national memory. They did it for almost 50 years. And unfortunately besides after 1989′′.
During the ceremony, the president donated 25 flags with coffins to families identified soldiers, the remaining IPN retention hoping to identify everyone. The military assistant honorowa then formed a ceremony conduction, which went to the fresh NSZ War Cemetery, located on the slope, with a view of the massif of Bartka, the office of the group.
Thanks to the search and recognition actions of the IPN, it was possible to reconstruct their names, names and due place in the national memory.
