Genocyd introduced the Polish-Jewish-American lawyer Rafał Lemkin into the literature and practice of law, who utilized earlier Greek roots: gene – people, cid - Murder. For the first time in the global forum, the word “genocide” was utilized in the U.S. Attorney's speech during the Nazi criminal trial in Nuremberg. It initially referred to Axis' extermination policy and practice in the conquered European countries. In time, it became synonymous with the Holocaust and Shoah, meaning “burning alive” and the demolition of the judaic people.
Genocide as crimes against humanity began earlier. The 20th century is an era of genocidal practices everywhere in the world. Hitler announced them in the shouting anti-Semitic speeches, and Stalin carried out genocide as an NKVD operation against Poles in the 1930s. The 1939–1945 planet War covered the flag, anti-Polish genocide in Volyn, russian in Katyn, nipponese in Asia. Even earlier, there was a massacre of Armenians, which was carried out by janchers, including Kurdov, in Turkish troops. The Mao Revolution in China proved that genocide is not only crimes on enemies, but besides ethnically murdering their – Chinese by Chinese. Reaching deeper into the past raises the question – what about the first inhabitants of both Americas? Indians, Mayans, Incas? What about the people of Africa, especially the Belgian Congo Leopold, as described by Joseph Conrad? What about the Aboriginals in Australia? And above all, what about the work for genocide?
