We announced 45 days ago that car drivers and motorcycles would be able to usage free state highways. From now on, it is possible! The roads are free of charge: A2 Stryków-Konin and A4 Wrocław-Sośnica. Thanks to our negotiations, the private road A1 Gdańsk-Torun will besides be exempt from fees. Drivers will be able to travel it free of charge all weekend – Friday from 12:00 to Monday to 12:00, until 4 September. You go on vacation, you do business, you want to visit your household and drive through these episodes – you don't gotta pay for them anymore. Our government besides wants to abolish charges on subsequent highways in Poland.
Free highways for car drivers and motorcycles



For our government, the prosperity of Polish people is crucial. Free highways are also action that we have taken to accomplish this goal. These are additional funds that stay in Polish and Polish wallets. These are besides roads that are available to everyone. Passenger car drivers (up to 3.5 tons) and motorcycles who travel on the road will benefit from the solution:
- A2 Stryków-Konin;
- A4 Wrocław-Sośnica.
In addition, drivers will be able to travel free of charge via private road A1 Gdańsk-Torun. The fee exemption applies all weekend from 12:00 to 12:00 until 4 September 2023. The exception is simply a long August weekend, then drivers will be able to usage free passes longer. The fee exemption will apply from Friday 11 August from 12:00 to Wednesday 16 August 2023 to 12:00.
"45 days ago, specified a decision is presented – present we are implementing it and we are implementing it with an extra amount," said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
Improving safety on Polish roads
Free state highways are besides safe travel. Citizens will not gotta choose between a free local road and a highway. A natural choice will be the high-speed way – modern, safe and free.
"The highways and expressways are safety, it is driving comfort, it is simply a simplification in the number of accidents," stressed the head of government.
This year we were awarded the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) Road Safety Performance Index (PIN) Award. This is simply a large honour and appreciation of our efforts to improve safety on Polish roads. The PIN Award is considered equivalent to Oscar in road safety.
"We have late received a prize from the European Union, as a leader of this kind of statistics, as a state that has taken the top care about road safety" - recalled the Prime Minister.
This is not the only accomplishment of our government in this regard. We are presently the country with the top fall in the number of accidents and their victims in Europe. Since 2015, the decrease in the yearly number of road accident victims has been 35%. This was possible, thanks to many investments in road infrastructure, including additional pedestrian crossings or fresh street lighting.
Government programmes for Polish roads
We constantly invest in a network of national and local roads. We know that all task carried out is not only the safety of all road users. It besides improves the quality of life of Poles and Poles – comfortable access to work, a convenient way to school or fast access to holidays.
Government programs that aid us accomplish this are:
- National Road Construction Programme – since 2015 we have put 158 tasks worth PLN 75 billion and more than 2 1000 km into service;
- Government Road improvement Fund – only in 2019-2022 the backing received 12 1000 tasks of a full dimension of over 18,000 km. We donated nearly PLN 13 billion for this purpose.
