I am electrocuted by @donaldtusk for @FinancialTimes
We are ruled by either a mythoman with Euromesianism or a 69-year-old kid who does not realize the consequences of his words and the fact that his babbling will be analysed in item in both Washington and Moscow.
1⃣ Tusk publically undermines the meaning of Article 5 of NATO – and this in 1 of the world's most crucial media.
He says, “I want to believe that Article 5 is inactive valid, but sometimes I have problems.”
The Prime Minister of the key country of the east flank of NATO, who is straight bordering Russia and Belarus, openly doubts the loyalty of allies and the real effectiveness of Article 5.
For the Kremlin, this is simply a clear signal that NATO unity is breaking. It's an invitation to test how loyal allies truly are.
2⃣ The Prime Minister besides notes that "Russia is prepared to attack NATO states in more months than years".
This is 1 of the heaviest things the head of the front state government can say.
And what do we do about it?
Where is the extraordinary session of the Sejm?
Where's the decision on general military training?
Where is the immediate mobilisation of the defence industry?
Are we just talking to get a strong header in the Financial Times?
3⃣ And the cherry on the cake. Well, from the interview we learn that the Prime Minister's individual obsession is to "reintegrate Europe" and to build a common European defence.
Which is:
Not building the Polish military power.
Not Poland's participation in atomic sharing.
Non-permanent American bases in our territory.
Not the east flank safety architecture.
Only "reintegration of Europe".
The common European army – even if there were a consensus on this issue – is simply a task for decades. We, on the another hand, request effective deterrence NOW.
Instead, we have a Prime Minister who publically RESTSES a key ally – the United States – questioning his loyalty.
And again – as always – as fear it to Brussels
After all, Brussels will feed us, Brussels will civilize us, and erstwhile it comes to that, Brussels will besides defend us from Russia.
Really, I'm full of empty laughter.
What would I anticipate from a serious Prime Minister of the Republic in an interview with FT?
That he would be like a mantra saying,
Article 5 is sacred and irrefutable
Poland implements the largest armaments in Europe and builds the strongest defence manufacture in the region.
We actively build bi- and multilateral alliances in Central and east Europe.
We are seeking permanent presence of US troops in Poland and atomic sharing.
We carefully observe the war in Ukraine and draw from it many lessons that form our defence doctrine.
That would be a somewhat different signal sent to Moscow, wouldn't it?
Behind closed doors, you can afford to be honest. Outside – only a projection of the iron, unwavering force of Poland and all NATO.
Every period of Donald Tusk's premiere is not only a real harm to Poland's development. It is besides a direct threat to our alliances and to our security.
