I don't know if you've noticed, but in Poland you can stay overnight. You don't request a organization card, you don't gotta pat Kaczyński on the back, you don't even gotta vote for the PiS. Just 1 careless sentence. 1 grimace on your face that doesn’t look like a rapture over Donald Tuski and armpits! — They already have you. They fasten the patch, push it out of the ellipse of "civilized", throw it out of brackets, and make them feel ashamed. And if you’re not ashamed, you’ll find it worse for you, the brown plague.
Let's take a Christopher Stanowski. Just a minute ago, for some, an annoying sports and controversy journalist, for others the voice of reason in the planet of media bubbles. Now? A writer. Yeah, you read well. The guy who, as far as I can remember, didn't go in months, nor recite from memory the passwords of the erstwhile TVP Info, was thrown into the same bag as Błaszczak and Sasin. Why? For he boldly — boldly! — criticize Rafał Trzaskowski. He didn't spit, he didn't blabber, he just had the nerve not to emergence in ecstasy on the sound of "Rafał".
And here we contact on the heart of the matter: The author present is anyone who, even for a moment, comes out of the rhythm of the choir “Silnyraz”. Anyone who doesn't give a circular of applause erstwhile they have to. It's not about opinions, it's not about logic. It's about loyalty. You're either with us or against us.
You can be a lefty of blood and bone, vegan, feminist, and activist. You can fight nationalism, racism, evil all your life. But if you fall under “ours” — even involuntaryly — you go to the brown hell. And hell is unpleasant. There are memes, there are names, there are troll farms, which have late spoken on behalf of “new European Poland”, and present they usage vocabulary from the Kibol fora of 2008.
On the another hand, if you defend the “Smiling Prime Minister” (copyright: strong-armed), it doesn’t substance that racist comments, homophobic contributions and support for Russian narratives appear on your timeline. You're ours. You are “light”. You are “from Europe”. Seriously, it's like a cabaret writing a script for politics.
I don't know how much longer this theatre will work, but 1 thing I know for sure: if this goes on, we will all be PiSowce in Poland – sooner or later. due to the fact that in a planet where only unconditional devotion to the only right organization matters, there is no place for critical thinking. And we've been through this. I don't miss you.
