On 3 September, during the largest defensive event in Poland, MSPO XXXII in Kielce, Grupa WB signed an agreement with Korean company Hanwha Ocean to strengthen cooperation in the field of marine solutions, including under the “Orka” submarine procurement programme
for the Polish Navy.
The cooperation agreement was signed by WB vice president Adam Bartosziewicz and Hanwha Ocean vice president Steve Jeong. It covers a wide scope of cooperation in the field of military marine solutions, including a comprehensive framework approach in the construction and support of submarines under the Orka programme.
"This agreement paves the way for strengthening the partnership with the Polish industry. Hanwha Ocean expects the WB Group to become allies in creating a Polish operating support strategy for Orka submarines," said Steve Jeong vice president of Hanwha Ocean.
‘The signed agreement indicates an increase in the competence of WB Groups in the field of maritime systems. It besides confirms the highest quality of composite technologies produced by WB Centrum Komposytów in Czechowice-Dziedzice, which can be utilized in projects as advanced as submarines," stated Adam Bartosziewicz, vice president of WB Group.
On the basis of the signed document, the companies will find the scope of cooperation in common areas of interest, including marine solutions, as well as maintenance, repair and review processes (MRO, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) of the Orka units.
The agreement is intended to form the basis for further agreements in maritime projects, including circumstantial areas of the construction and support of submarines. The cooperation besides covers the area of composite materials, in cooperation with WB Centrum Kompositów, the Competency Centre of Composite Materials Group of WB.
The ceremony was attended not only by representatives of WB Group (from WB Electronics and WB Center of Composites), but besides by Korean partners Hanwha Ocean in the improvement of submarines KSS-III. These are units entered into service in the Army Navy of the Republic of Korea.
