May 3, 2025 Warsaw will turn into a non-mobile city. For the occasion 234th Anniversary of the Constitution 3 May many state celebrations and sporting events are planned, which will completely change the organisation of traffic in the center. Piłsudski Square, Old Town, Krakowskie Przedmieście and Ujazdowskie Avenues – these are only any of the places that will be disabled. City services and police call for bypassing downtown, especially in the morning.
Official celebrations: parades and marches will block the center
The celebrations will begin with morning rotation call at Castle SquareFrom where the celebrations will decision under The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. They will participate in the event representative companies of the Polish Armywho will participate in marches and parades.
During hours 8:00 to 14:00 will be successive closing further streets in the Śródmieście areaincluding:
- Krakowskie Przedmieście,
- The fresh World,
- Piłsudski Square (especially in hour) 12:00-12:30),
- fragments of Old Town.
Drivers can anticipate not only traffic but besides intensive checks and parking bans. Incorrectly parked cars will be removed by tow trucks and police will enforce entry bans and leave vehicles behind.
Constitution 3 May – sports vacation with roadblocks
Parallel to public ceremonies, 11 a.m. Starts 33. Constitution run 3 Maywhich will run through the key arteries of Warsaw. From 3:00 in the morning, 3 Cross Square will be closed.and in hours 10:30 to 1:00 p.m. Traffic on many streets will be halted.
The moving way includes, inter alia:
- Ujazdowski Avenues,
- the square at the crossroads,
- Marszałkowska Street.
It means multi-hour communication paralysis, which affects not only drivers but besides public transport passengers.
ZTM warns: changes in bus and tram running
Warsaw Municipal Transport Board announces major changes in timetables and bus and tram routes. On 3 May:
- Lines 126 and 160 will be completely suspended,
- Lines 193 and 527 will take detours, bypassing closed sections,
- Buses 128 and 175 will finish their courses at Emilii Plater Street.
Metro will stay the main communication axis, however, a crucial overcrowding of warehouses during the morning and mid-afternoon rush hours is expected. Residents are asked to avoid travelling to the center if this is not absolutely necessary.
Parking and towing bans
From the early morning hours, parking bans on key streets of Śródmieście. Drivers who ignore the marking must be able to the mandate and towing of the vehicle. Police announced increased presence of road patrols and full enforcement.
Recommendations to residents and tourists
Urban services urge a number of basic principles that can aid avoid obstacles:
- Do not plan to travel by car through the centre from 8:00 to 14:00,
- Use metro, pedestrian crossings and city bikes,
- Check the tour and updates of ZTM before leaving home,
- Leave the car outside the strict center – preferably in P+R car parks.
Warsaw on 3 May will be a place important national celebrationsbut besides serious traffic restrictions. If you do not plan your day in advance, you can easy get stuck in traffic or collide with closed streets. It is worth considering both as a associate in events and as a regular resident.
